I know many of you are not exactly big fans of the Criterion company; but, I..for one..am just happy that SOMEONE is finally putting COLT IS MY PASSPORT out on DVD! The movie just flat rocks!!!

Well, I just said in response to one of your other posts that I wish "Colt" would be released. So good news.

One of my main problems with Criterion is the price (although they generally do a good job with transfers and extras). But based on your link, the films will be released as part of Criterion's Eclipse Series. I bought a "Late Ozu" set in that series. Not a lot of "bells & whistles" but Eclipse Series films seem to cost less than regular Criterion releases. Plus they are in thin DVD cases, so take up less space. The 5 DVDs in my Ozu set take up less space than 3 regular DVDs. Space is at a premium here, so that 's nice......

michaeltr: I agree, too bad these were not released after the Nikkatsu tour, but maybe film distributors wanted to see how the tour went. I guess maybe Criterion decided some were worth releasing some as part of its "budget" series. Who knows.
